Back To List Great Tapestry of Scotland
A new, fully-accessible, visitor attraction housing the national treasure, The Great Tapestry of Scotland will open in spring 2021 in Scotland’s premier textile region, the Scottish Borders (a short train or road journey from Edinburgh).

The £6.7m purpose built facility will tell the true story of Scotland's history, heritage & culture (from 8500 BC to present day) through the Tapestry’s intricate textile artistry & a range of other significant visiting exhibits and workshops.

One of the largest tapestries in the world, it was the vision of best-selling author Alexander McCall Smith, designed by historian Alistair Moffat & artist Andrew Crummy, & championed by 1,000 women from across Scotland.
